Honouring the Past, Embracing the Future

Monday 1 July 2024

This week sees the beginning of a new chapter for Murdoch Lawyers. Tom McVeigh finalises his transition out of the Managing Director role with our other owners – Tony Randall, Andrew Crooke, Leanne Matthewson [Managing Director], Matt Bell and Craig Shepherd – focused on driving the business forward leveraging off the strong foundations first laid by Tom and Tony together with Tony Phillips, nearly 30 years ago.

Tom’s commitment to continuous improvement and providing premium legal services has never wavered, so much so that while he knows that the management of Murdochs is in great hands, Tom wants to move into a role that will enable him to do more of what he loves in a more specialised way. This has led to us planning for Tom, together with Michelle Tesch (Senior Associate), to acquire our affiliate businesses Gill & Lane (Sandgate) and Convey Your Way – launching their own Brisbane-based law firm focused on estate administration, estate & succession planning and property law which will operate under the banner of Life Legacy Legal.

We extend our sincere thanks to Tom for his significant contribution and our warmest congratulations to him & Michelle on their new venture.  With common values and shared history, the two firms will have a strong working relationship ensuring that all clients and supporters benefit from these developments – Murdochs being well placed to assist Life Legacy Legal in relation to agribusiness, family law, energy & resources, business & employment law services as well as litigation and insolvency work.

Leanne will continue to lead the Murdochs future planning practice and after 21 years with the firm, is the best person to care for our clients’ estate & succession planning needs while collaborating with their accountants & financial advisers in relation to superannuation, tax, estate administration and restructuring options.

We are proud to have supported our community for nearly 3 decades.  But most of all, with the beginning of this new chapter, we are genuinely excited for the future of our region and the role that we can play in helping to make people’s lives better.

Anyone seeking clarification about what this means for them or wanting to discuss a particular opportunity, can call Leanne on 0417 707 307 or email: [email protected]
